Photoshop - YouTube: Simple film poster tutorial

For one of my ancillary tasks, I am to create a film poster for my 5 minute short film. So, to understand how to go about creating a film poster I decided to watch photoshop tutorials on YouTube to help me make an effective film poster that will represent my film.

Here they have begun with a simple picture, which they will then later enhance to look more effective.

In this screen shot we see that two different images have been merged together to form an almost basic background for the film poster. An effect is being used to do this by first revealing the women's face from behind the overlapping picture, which then looks as if the picture has been merged.

Here the image of the two 'characters' has been merged together with the image that we had first seen. The way in which they have been put together is very effective as it gives a really well done film poster look to it.

The merged image has now been made black and white in colour. Since they want to make the poster one solid colour, it is required to make the whole poster black and white in order for this to work.

Now the image has been made all one colour. This effect makes the poster look very professional and is an effective technique to use.

And here is the complete and final stage of the process. Where we see the film title and subtitles in effective and suitable fonts that make this poster seem very professional, even thought the creation process of this was very simple.
