Alice K Carroll is the great, great granddaughter of Alice Kingsley, who, had once, claimed to have found a magical world called ‘Wonderland’. After finding out her grandmother recently passed away she is driven to find the secret world of wonderland. Everyone declared her great, great grandmother, the original Alice, to be mad even Alice K’s own mother. But one other person believed the original Alice as much as she did, and that was her recently deceased grandmother.
After the funeral, Alice K and her mother begin to argue about the stories of the original Alice. Their heated argument leads to Alice K leaving the house and escaping to her grandmother’s house, determined to prove her right.
On entering the house she sees that she is surrounded by darkness. She tries to turn on the lights but none are working. She rummages around and manages to find a torch. She journeys around the dark house trying to find clues of anything that could prove to everyone that ‘Wonderland’ exists. After an hour or so she wonders if her mother was right, until she comes across a hidden door covered by empty boxes. She moves them and looks at the door. It looked like a normal door and so doesn’t think to get her hopes up. She opens the door and sees it is pitch black, even her torch does not reveal anything. She places one foot inside but doesn’t feel the floor. The door behind her pushes her into the room and she falls into a dark endless hole.
She wakes up and finds herself lying on grass. Confused, she stands up and looks around. Alice K stops, realising that she is no longer in her grandmother’s house. She looks up and sees trees and grass all around her. She wonders ‘how did I get here? And where am I?’ Unaware of her whereabouts Alice K roams around what, to her, seems to be a park. She starts to call out, but soon realises that there is no sign of people anywhere. She then stumbles upon a white rabbit staring at her. She stares back slightly confused. After a long minute the rabbit starts to run. Alice K automatically runs after it, feeling as if the rabbit wanted her to follow. After some time, she becomes breathless and seems to have lost the rabbit. She looks around and to her shock sees a long table in front of her. It was very worn out and dirty. She cautiously walks around to the table, eyeing it carefully. Then it struck her. This table looked exactly like the one described in the story of ‘Alice in Wonderland’; her great, great grandmother. It all made sense; her mysterious fall through the floor at her grandmother’s house, finding herself in a forest, a rabbit running away from her and now finding a weird looking table in the middle of nowhere. This is ‘Wonderland’. She had finally seen for herself that it is real.
Still walking around the table she sees a hat at the far end of the table. She walks towards it, picks it up and out falls a piece of paper. Alice K slowly, picks it up and sees that it is an envelope that reads ‘My Dear Alice Kingsley Carroll’. She opens it and reads ‘you are the legacy of your great, great grandmother. My dear Alice you have finally arrived’. With a grin on her face she sits on the large chair at the end of the table and says ‘I’m home’.
