Virgin Media Shorts

Browsing on YouTube for different short films to watch for my research, I came across an advertisement on the 2012 Virgin Media Shorts Awards. These awards are for new talents to show off their short films to the world.
From last year's winners I chose to watch TiVo Award winner 'Coasting' by Federico Forcolini (comedy) - 2.44 minutes, Grand Prize winner '2:20' by Jason Wingard (Sci-fi Thriller) - 2.44 minutes and a 2012 nominee 'Sprockett' by Hazel Meeks (Family) - 2.26 minutes.

  1. which is your favourite? I did enjoy Coasting. Wat have you learnt from these short films and how are you going to use that information?

  2. My favourite is Sprockett because of the genre, and the family friendly mood it gives off to viewers, that completely draws you into their world. I read that the creator of this film really enjoys films in the style of Tim Burton, and from watching this one I decided that I do too.
I have learnt from watching these that you do not need a complicated and over the top production for the film to turn out good, but that it is the shots, lighting and characters that make the film so great.

  3. Less is more on occasions. What other Tim Burton films have you watched? I also like his style.
